HICKS, Shirley Ann - Of Swartz Creek, age 85, died Friday, November 10, 2023 at her residence.
A memorial service will be held 7pm Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Reverend Harold K. Polk Jr. officiating.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation 1pm Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on March 13, 1938, the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Janik) Cherba. On December 21, 1963, she married Ronald Hicks and he preceded her in death in 2012. Shirley enjoyed gardening and was a Master Gardener. She also crocheted, knitted and belonged to The Project Linus Group for many years. She attended all of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved traveling with the girls, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren and granddogs. Shirley loved hosting family parties and holidays, but above all else, she was a loving mom, grammy and friend to all.
Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society or simply do a good deed.
Surviving are children, Robert (Jill), Kelly (Scott) Care’ and Sharon (Robert) Bearss;
grandchildren, Danielle Hicks, Colton and Bayley Care’ and Kamden Hicks;
siblings, Robert (Joyce) Cherba, Steve (Jan) Cherba and brother-in-law, Royce Mashburn.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Mashburn, step-son, Scott Hicks and step-daughter, Rhonda Hurry and her husband Brian.
