Johnson, Roger L.- Of Flushing, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Cornerstone Community Church, 5182 N. Elms Road, Flushing. Burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park.
Family and friends will gather from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Rossell Funeral Home, 307 E. Main Street, Flushing. Visitation also from 10:00am on Saturday until the time of service at the church.
Roger was born in Big Rapids, Michigan on May 20, 1932, the son of the late Orland and Mildred (Tice) Johnson. He married Ruth Henry on November 9, 1950 in Lakeview, Michigan. He retired from Flint V8 Engine Plant as a Millwright after 30 years. Roger was an active member of Cornerstone Community Church and a volunteer at Covenant Hills Camp, a Free Methodist Church family camp in Otisville. He enjoyed the Flushing Senior Center, where he spent many years playing euchre and helping people with their taxes.
Roger is survived by children, Deborah Wilson of Traverse City, Mark and wife Pamela Johnson of Clio, Stephen and wife Cheryl Johnson of Oscoda, Timothy and wife Mary Beth Johnson of Flushing, Elizabeth and husband Mark Butler of Brighton, and John Johnson of Remus; former daughter-in-law, Sharry Johnson; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and nephew, Larry (Tresa) Beardslee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Johnson; son, Thomas Johnson and grandson, Mark Johnson II.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Cornerstone Community Church.
