SCHUMMER, DOREEN

The world has lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Doreen was called home to heaven, with her family by her side, on April 30, 2023 at the age of 82.

Doreen was born on July 30, 1940, on her family’s farm in Fremont, MI. She was the third of three children to Clifford and Leona Willis. She enjoyed growing up on the farm and riding her horse Wildfire.

She met the love of her life in an Orlando airport, while wearing his favorite color red. Richard quickly swept her off her feet and they married on November 21st, 1964, and together they raised 5 children. He was devoted to her until the end.

Nothing brought more joy to Doreen than her children and grandchildren. She was always at their events with a bag full of sandwiches and snacks. She was known for her loving and sweet nature and was a second mother and caretaker to many. Her delicious homemade recipes were requested by all that knew her, and she always made sure to make extra dishes to accommodate her grandchildren’s likes. She loved people and struck up conversations with anyone whether she knew them or not. She was a devout Catholic and lived a life of serving others.

Doreen is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years Richard. Her loving children Todd (Melissa), Tim (Lisa), Tedd (Alisa), Terri, Tom (Lori). Cherished grandchildren Karli, Nick, Devin, Beau, Cody, Lucas, Kyle (Brenna), Connor, Hannah. Adored Great Grandson Cooper. Brother Buck (Marsha) Willis, Sister-n-Law Lucille Weiblen, Brother-n-Law’s Fran Ruzicka and Don (Linda) Schummer. Special bonus family Jeff, Kathy, MacKenzie and Stephanie Wilson. Many other special family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beautiful granddaughter McKenna Schummer, sister Barbara (Bob) Bacon, sister-n-law Eleanor Ruzicka, and brother-n-law Chuck Weiblen.

Special thanks to her incredible care team Tre’ana McCree, Rachel Breneman and Careline Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to #McKennassquad Beauty Bar or the 22Q Foundation in honor of her granddaughter McKenna and great grandson Cooper.

Doreen lived a full warm life, filled with joy. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and will be forever loved and incredibly missed by her family.
