CHERRY, Margaret L. “Marge” – of Clio, formerly Montrose, age 90, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Cranberry Park in Clio. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 4, 2016, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Fr. Dan Scheid officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Saturday from 4-8PM, Sunday from 2-5PM and Monday from 10AM until time of service. Contributions may be made to “Crossover Downtown Outreach Ministry”.
Marge was born September 28, 1925, in Pontiac, Michigan to the late William and Verna (Adamski) Roark. She married John D. Cherry July 5, 1947, in Angola, Indiana. He preceded her in death January 25, 1989. Marge was employed with Genesee County for 15 years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Flint. Marge was a great Democrat and was very active with the Genesee County Democratic Party. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a longtime member of the Montrose Athletic Boosters and was a former member of the Montrose City Council. She enjoyed knitting, golfing and loved reading.
Surviving are: Children: John Cherry (Pam Faris) of Clio, Deborah Cherry of Burton, Merrie Lynne Cherry of Dansville and Dwayne (Deborah) Cherry of Mt. Morris; 5 grandchildren; 4 Great-grandchildren; sister in law, Helen Roark. Margaret was preceded in death by her grandson, Dwayne Cherry; 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
