TELLING, Halsey Charles (Hal) formerly of Flushing, age 60, died August 15, 2022 at his Moran, MI residence.
Visitation will take place at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Friday, August 19, 2022 from 11 AM – 8 PM and Saturday, August 20 from 11 AM until time of service at 2 PM at the funeral home.
Hal was born in Flint MI on February 16, 1962 the son of late Halsey William & Madelaine (Hutchinson) Telling. He graduated from Flushing High School in 1980. He married his high school sweetheart, Kelly Parks, on September 8, 1984. Hal worked for the Genesee County Sherriff’s Department while attending the Flint Police Academy. He then became a police officer with the Flushing Police Department where he worked for 28 years, rising to the rank of Detective Sergeant, before retiring in 2011. After retirement, he joined the Police Officers Labor Council, where he worked as a business agent until the time of his death.
Surviving are his wife Kelly,
children Zachary Telling & Alyssa (Cody) Damon,
Grandson Parker Damon,
sisters Sherry Telling & Diane (Mark) Rodriguez,
in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, Hal has asked that any contributions be made to fund for the education of Parker and any future grandchildren.
