SMITH, Phyllis “Nanny” Kay (McDaniel) Of Flint, age 79, went to be home with the Lord, Friday, September 15, 2023 at Ascension Genesys Hospital.
A combined funeral service for Phyllis and her son, Danny will be held 1pm Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Don Dennis officiating.
Entombment in Flint Memorial Park.
Contributions may be directed to the "family wishes".
Visitation 2-8pm Thursday and 11am Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Phyllis was born in Malden, Missouri on November 10, 1943 the daughter of the late John and Dorothy McDaniel. Phyllis graduated from Southwestern High School, Class of 1961. She attended Glad Tidings Tabernacle. Phyllis enjoyed spending time spoiling her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, reading, watching Jimmy Swaggart, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and the Hallmark Channel Movies, gospel music concerts and sleepovers with her grandchildren. Phyllis “Nanny”, had a special bond with her first born great-grandson, Blake. She was a true Prayer Warrior. Phyllis retired from General Motors "Chevrolet in the Hole" and was a member of UAW #659.
Surviving are son, Jeff (Barbara) Smith;
grandchildren, Jacob (Shelby) Smith, Jennifer (Brandon) Mossman, and Jessica (Zachary) Orr;
great-grandchildren, Blake and Natalie Mossman, Colton and Lucas Smith and Asher Orr;
loving Nanny to Mya;
sisters, Petie Brewer and Melba Pool;
former spouse and friend, Jack Smith;
and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Smith and sister, Jody Askwith.
