BARNETT, Verda Mae (Gwaltney) – Of Burton, age 99, joined her loved ones in heaven on Thursday, January 2, 2014.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor M. Patrick Gibson officiating.
Visitation 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or charity of one’s choice.
Verda was born On July 16, 1914 in Redd, MO.
She married Leonard Barnett on December 10, 1934. Together, they built four homes and sold organic vegetables for many years.
She still gardened until she reached 97.
She had a passion for flowers. She loved to grow and create fresh and silk florals to sell at craft shows.
Our giggler and family matriarch will be sorely missed. Her husband, Leonard preceded her in death in 1989.
Surviving are four children, Jack (Sandy) Barnett, Shirley Hockin, Joyce (George) Burt and Doug (Hwi) Barnett;
14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
