Barbara Ann Hallwood, of Flushing, Michigan, age 92, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at home. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta will officiate. Burial to follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. Rosary service, and 10 a.m. Thursday at the church until the time of the Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made t o St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Luke’s N.E.W. Life Center.
Barbara was born in Flint, Michigan on March 5, 1931 to John and Elaine (Lesniak) Koryciak. She married Edward Hallwood, Sr. on April 19, 1952. She worked at AC Spark Plug for a few years and later worked at Meijers as a cashier for 23 years before retiring in 1996. However, her passion and devotion was raising their 7 children and living out her faith. At St. Luke and St Robert parishes she was involved in tutoring kids, choir, bible studies, retreats, funeral lunches, making pasties, and numerous other activities. At the family homes (LeErda and Howard Street), Barb was involved in endless laundry, ironing, scrubbing floors, cooking, cleaning, character/virtue formation, homework checking, and all manner of chaos management. In her retirement, she loved attending any activities involving her kids or grandkids, spending time with friends and family, playing cards and the family marble game, tending to her flower garden, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and performing works of mercy for friends, family and strangers.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Leo) Laurin, Tim (Vicky Gardner) Hallwood, Matt Hallwood, daughter-in-law Rose Hallwood, Ed Hallwood, and Ken (Dawn) Hallwood; grandchildren, Jack (Darcy), Steve (Tiffianey), Garen (Dawn), Matt, Tori (Devin), Kati, Lauren, Natalie, Anna, Graham, Eli, and Owen; great-grandchildren, Payton, Hadley, and Cooper; and siblings, Dick, Louis, Jerry, and Cathy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Hallwood, Sr.; sons, Frank Hallwood and Anthony Hallwood; sisters, Sue and Audrey “Pat”; and brother, Jack. |
