Dale Lawrence Pelky, age 85, of Swartz Creek, lovingly surrounded by his family, passed away on May 13, 2025, at home. Private services will be held. Arrangements were made by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Born on September 25, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, Dale was the son of Lawrence Joseph and Alma Marie (Esch) Pelky. He graduated from Utley High School in 1957 and married Mary Caroline Jackson on June 6, 1959. After many devoted years as an automotive mechanic, Dale developed a passion for auto racing, restoring classic cars, and attending car shows. Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; their three children, Carol (Don) Rader of Manchester, TN, Gary (Renee) Pelky of Swartz Creek, and Melissa (Thad) Brown of Durand; as well as his daughter-in-law, Dee Pelky of Durand. He was proud of his eight grandchildren: Matt (Cory) Rader, Nicole (Chance) Kirk, Ashley (Jon) Czarney, Marissa (Gerry) Torris, Alyssa (Quinn) Kelly, Steven (Wendy) Pelky II, Samantha (Skyler) Wentworth, and Mitchell Brown, and cherished his great-grandchildren, Gracie, Flynn, Olive, Ellie, Alanna, River, Isla, and Arlan. In addition, Dale is survived by his sister, Charlene (Rod) Stephens of Grayling, and two brothers, Mike (Diane) Pelky of Durand and Tim (Carla) Pelky of Swartz Creek, along with many nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Joseph and Alma Marie Pelky; two brothers, Rolly and Dennis Pelky; and his son, Steven Pelky.
