Vernon S. Harvey, 85, a lifelong resident of Lapeer, passed away on May 26, 2021. Vern was born on March 19, 1936, in Lapeer, to parents Carlton and Ida (Arms) Harvey.
Vernon graduated from Lapeer High School class of 1954. He then went on to work as a Tasty Bread Driver for 36 years before retiring in 1993. He married Sharon Barton on February 4, 1989 in Almont. If you were looking for Vern you would generally find him somewhere outside. If you gave him a friend and a fishing pole you’d make his day; he was known to fish pretty much anytime, anywhere. During the fall he would pack up his hunting gear and travel to the U.P. for deer hunting season every year. Vern was a hard worker, always keeping the yard and house looking nice. He was a good friend, a great dad and a loving husband.
Vern is survived by his loving wife Sharon Harvey of Lapeer; his children: Christene (Lavern) Hill of Beaverton, Cathleen (Doug) Jarrett of Fenton, Lisa (George) Dove of Emmett, Wendy Walling of Apopka, FL; daughter-in-law: Sheri Harvey; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Vern was preceded in death by his first wife Judith Harvey; his son: Robert Harvey; grandson: Kody Zawalksi; sibling Leland Harvey and Judy Schickler and his aforementioned parents.
Visitation for Vern will be held on Tuesday June 1 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Muir Brothers in Lapeer. A funeral service will be held at Muirs directly following the visitation at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow the service at Stiles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
