Charlotte Ann Secord, a beacon of warmth and unwavering faith, passed away on December 10, 2023, at the age of 84, at home with family by her side. Her life, a tapestry of love and service, will forever be cherished and celebrated by all who were blessed to know her.
Born on October 7, 1939, Charlotte's journey was marked by an ever-present smile that could light up the darkest of rooms. Her life was a living example of the inspiring words by Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Charlotte felt deeply and loved even more so, touching countless hearts along her path.
Charlotte's love story with her devoted husband Ralph is one for the ages, a testament to partnership and companionship. Together, they raised a family grounded in love and laughter, including their children: Shyrll and her husband Jim, Les and his wife Sheree, Marc and his wife Jill, and their angel Teresa, who preceded her mother in leaving this earthly realm. Her legacy continued to flourish through her beloved siblings: Robert and his wife Gloria, Bill Ormsbee, Nancy and her husband EB, Linda and her husband Lee, and Diane and her husband Ed.
Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, guiding her seven grandchildren: Andrew (Jacky), Kelli, Tony, Katie (Kyle), Kim (Justin), Chris (Janessa), and Jacob (Madelyn), along with her great-grandchildren: Alex, Henry, Madelyn, Elysia, Sawyer, Mia, Caden, Cloey, Maeve, and Kollyns, with a gentle hand and a heart full of stories and wisdom.
Charlotte's professional life was a reflection of her caring nature, having worked at Jansen Family Funeral Home. She brought comfort to many families during their times of need with a grace that was uniquely hers. Her commitment to her faith was unwavering as a member of the Columbiaville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She embodied the very essence of what it meant to be faith-filled, loving, and friendly.
Her interests were as varied as they were selfless. Charlotte found joy in crocheting, creating not just beautiful patterns but also weaving threads of connection with those she taught and shared this skill with. Camping was another passion, where she found solace in the serenity of nature and the joy of family gatherings around a campfire under the stars. Volunteering and helping others wasn't just an interest, but a way of life for Charlotte. She lived by the principle that the greatest fulfillment comes not from what we get, but from what we give.
In celebrating Charlotte Ann Secord, let us not dwell on the sorrow of her absence but rather embrace the joy of her legacy. She walked this earth with purpose, and in doing so, left it a better place than she found it. Her life reminds us all to cherish every moment, to hold our loved ones close, and to be a source of light and love in the world.
As we carry Charlotte’s spirit within us, let us continue to spread the love she so freely gave. She may have departed from our sight, but never from our hearts. Charlotte Ann Secord, your life was a masterpiece of compassion and service, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Your journey here may have ended, but your story continues in the lives of those you've touched, for love like yours never dies – it echoes through eternity.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Charlotte’s Life will take place 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Columbiaville United Methodist Church, where family and friends may visit 1 hour prior to service.
