Steven "Big" Beehn, age 60, of Mt. Morris, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026, at LaVigne Home for Compassionate Care in Burton. In accordance with Steven’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Steven’s tribute wall on martinfuneralhome.com.
Steven was born May 29, 1965, in Flint; he is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Dewey and Carol (Howard) Beehn. He loved his mother and father deeply and always looked up to his father, with whom he shared a common love of woodworking. He cherished growing up in a close-knit family with his two sisters and older brother. Those roots shaped the way he loved people.
Growing up, he was an athlete and competed in powerlifting and track, throwing shot put with unbelievable strength. If you knew him well, you definitely heard about how his 10th grade football team was “the most dominant force in the history of Mt. Morris football.” Or at least, that’s the way he told it.
That competitive spirit never left him. It carried on into years of coaching youth football, where Saturdays were spent on the field from sunup to sundown. He was more than a coach, he was a mentor and someone kids looked up to long after the games were over.
He found peace outdoors, hunting or casting a line, but just as often, you would find him surrounded by people.
Friendship meant a lot to Big. He showed up, no questions asked and gave freely to those he loved. His friendships lasted a lifetime, and he stayed close with many from high school, a true testament to the kind of man he was.
He showed love through food, always cooking, always feeding people. If there was an event, he was at the grill, making magic in oven mitts.
His greatest pride was his grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than time spent laughing, teasing, and making memories with them.
In his downtime, you could find him in Facebook barbecue groups, “stirring the pot” and offering plenty of unsolicited advice. Whether he was educating or trolling, it was all part of who he was.
He was “Big,” Funny, a little grumpy, And if you ever found yourself thinking his stories were too good to be true.
Well, that was just how he liked it.
Above all,
he was deeply kind, with a heart bigger than anyone could measure.
Big loved life, and in return, he was deeply loved.
For those who knew him, his stories, his laughter, and his spirit will never be forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory are his forever friend, Renee Burmeister; mother, Carol Beehn; children: Sheena (Stevie) Labelle, Ta’lon (Shelby) Burmeister, and Silas Burmeister; grandchildren: Camdyn, Tysyn and Dextyn Labelle, Adelayd, and Evey Wagner, Remington, and Ta’lon Burmeister, Jr., Barret, and Cypress Burmeister; siblings: Wesley Beehn, Cynthia (Dean) Totten, and Tammy Childers; nieces: Carrie Grant, Kelly West, and Tess Borst; nephew, Scott Wangler; great-nephew, Malachi Grant; great-neice, Sadie Borst; cousins: Dallas and Cathy Newbecker; special friends: Kreg Burmeister, Leroy (Vicky) Wheat, Tony (Brenda) Mahoney, Paul Dowell, Dan Wright, and Mike (Julie) Wilkerson.
Steven was preceded in death by his dad, Dewey; brother-in-law, Brian Childers.
