SUTHERLAND, Lee Edward – of Burton, MI, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 4 PM Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Heritage United Church of Christ, 7074 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. James Offrink officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Inurnment, with Military Honors, 11 AM Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in Green Corners Cemetery, Hadley, MI. The family will receive visitors 3-4 PM Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Heritage United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, www.fbem.org , in Lee’s memory.
Lee was born in Hadley, MI on September 24, 1932, son of the late Charles and Gladys (Watts) Sutherland. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. He married Jean Louise Leonhardt on June 13, 1959 in Port Huron, MI and she preceded him in death on September 26, 2020. Lee was a co-owner of Calvert Sales in Mount Morris, MI and Pontiac, MI with his business partners Tom Calvert and Bob Calvert. He was a former member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and a current member of Heritage United Church of Christ.
Lee is survived by his children, Clifford (William Falu) Sutherland and Diane (Subash) Chander Sutherland; grandson, Rohit “Charlie” Duggal; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gladys Sutherland; 5 siblings, Doris Sutherland, Marge (Tom) Krakker, Ray (Lola) Sutherland, Ruth (Lee) Umpstead and Harold (Dorcas) Sutherland.
