Joel was born in Lapeer, Michigan on June 20, 1965 to the late James and Judith (Barden) Satkowiak. Joel has two
beautiful daughters, Jessica Anne (Josh) and Sarra “Louie” Elizabeth (Ryan). He later reconnected with his high school
sweetheart, Katrina Hollingshead and were married on October 2, 2015. Joel was the youngest of three boys, Jamie
(Mary) Satkowiak and Jon (Annette) Satkowiak.
Joel started his career at Barden’s Heating & Plumbing in Otisville, working his way up to getting his Master Plumbers
License. He eventually moved to Florida and worked as a Master Plumber at Home Depot #6334 in St. Augustine. Joel
was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone in need. Joel enjoyed volunteering at the University of St. Augustine’s
Physical Therapy program where he helped students develop a better understanding of the physical and emotional
needs of amputees.
Joel had a lifetime of health issues, while never complaining about the cards he was dealt or never letting his health hold
him back from doing what he wanted to do. His favorite quote was “IT IS WHAT IT IS”. Joel was thankful of St. Augustine
Youth Services for allowing this wife to have the flexibility to work from home and take care of him during the roughest
times.
Joel was a true to heart Michigander. He loved watching the Detroit Red Wings, University of Michigan and Detroit Lions
Football. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing fantasy football and poker. Joel also loved riding his Harley-Davidson and
Harley-Davidson poker chips. Many friends and family would also send him chips from around the world.
Joel is survived by his loving and caring wife, Katrina; beautiful daughters: Jessica Anne (Josh) and Sarra “Louie” Elizabeth
(Ryan); brothers: James (Mary) Satkowiak and Jon (Annette) Satkowiak; step-sons: Nicholas and Matthew Tarrant; three
step-grandchildren; uncles: Tom (Cindy) Barden and Dan (Kathy) Barden; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joel is proceeded in death by his parents. |
