CONDON, Gerald Thomas – Of Flushing, age 83, died Sunday, March 28, 2021 at his residence.
A private funeral service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Reverend Jeremy T. Peters officiating.
Visitation 3-7pm Friday, April 2, 2021 at the funeral home.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Court Street United Methodist Church, 225 W. Court St., Flint, MI 48502 or Crossover Downtown Outreach Ministry, 414 W. Court St., Flint, MI 48503.
Gerald was born in Flint, Michigan on July 13, 1937, the son of the late William and Mildred (Brockriede) Condon. He graduated from Flint Technical High School, Class of 1955. He then graduated from Flint Junior College with an accounting degree. On August 21, 1965, he married Grace Elaine Metcalf. Gerald was the Comptroller for Greenley’s. He also started his own business, Affordable Accounting and Tax Service. In 1981, he merged with Tower and Thrasher to become Tower, Thrasher & Condon Accountants for 19 years. Gerald then worked at MCLR Financial Center until his retirement in 2015. He was also a member of many organizations including; Oak Park United Methodist Church, Court Street United Methodist Church. Gerald was the Finance Committee Chairperson of the Flint District Board of Missions for over 20 years, and a member of the West Flint Optimist Club and the National Association of Accountants. Gerald loved his family (especially his two grandsons), his cottage and enjoyed his work as an accountant.
Surviving are wife, Elaine;
Daughter, Shirley (Timothy J.) Burchett;
Grandsons, Andrew and Matthew Burchett;
Brother-in-law, Kenneth Kluender; And nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, William and Joyce Condon, sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise and William Nicholas, sister, Ruth Ann Kluender and nephew, Kenneth Kluender Jr.
