He was a graduated of Flushing High School, class of 1943, where he was Class President and quarterback of the football team. He always kept Flushing in his heart. Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He sailed onboard the U.S.S. Neal A. After the war, Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Jeanne Wallin on July 27, 1946, at St. Robert Catholic Church. After graduation, the family lived with Virginia’s parents on their farm in Flushing.

Jerry began his career with McKennon and Mooney as an insurance salesman in Flint. He later opened his own agency in Flint and became a member of the Flint Rotary.

He was a dedicated caregiver to his older brother, Gaylord.

Jerry was a faithful Catholic his entire life. As a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, he served as an usher and belonged to the St. Jospeh Guild. After the closure of St. Agnes Parish, the family joined St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

He was an avid sports fan (go MSU) and enjoyed fly fishing with his son as they appreciated the undisturbed beauty of Northern Michigan. A proud son of Ireland, he celebrated all things Irish.
