SORDYl, JENNIE (GALONSKA, BRANCH) of Mount Morris, MI, age 96, died September 16, 2019. Services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 28 at SS Charles & Helena Catholic Church, 230 E. Vienna St., Clio, MI 48420. Fr. Ken Coughlin officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, September 27, from 12-8 PM at Reigle Funeral Home/Sunset Chapel, 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing, MI 48433. A rosary is scheduled for 7 PM on Friday. Additional visitation will be held 10-11 Saturday before mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Powers Catholic High School or a charity of your choice. Jennie was born on December 25, 1922, in Adams, Massachusetts, to Stefania (Pamu?a) and Joseph Woijtaszczyk who were married in 1907 in Piotrowice, Poland, and later immigrated to the US. She was later adopted by her step-father Frank Galonska and then changed her name to Branch. She graduated from Flint Northern in 1941. She worked at AC Spark Plug. She married Herman A. Sordyl on January 25, 1947 in Flint, MI. They were successful entrepreneurs, running Lee’s Fruit Market, Jennie’s Beer & Wine, and Spectro Oils. They were married for 47 years before Herman passed away in 1994. She is survived by her daughters - Jeanette (Roland) Kibler of Ann Arbor, MI, and Cheryl (Robert) Sunday of Mt. Morris, MI. Granddaughters – Marisha Sunday of Lake Orion, MI; Daria (Thomas) Files of Milford, MI; and Valaria Sunday of Fenton, MI. Great-granddaughters – Maria and Amelia Files. Step-grand children – Nathan (Jill) Kibler of Clarkston, MI; Rebekah (Eric) Kibler-Marshall of Stevensville, MI; and David (Nicole) Kibler of San Carlos, CA. Step-great-grandchildren – Olivia and Everett Kibler, and Elizabeth Kibler-Marshall. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Sordyl and her siblings Stanley Branch, Wanda Esterline, and Edward Galonska. She loved to play cards, feed people, golf, dance, and attend family gatherings. |
