WELLMAN, Chris “Swell” Anthony – of Davison, MI, age 64, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 1 PM Monday, June 13, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Sunday, June 12, 2022 and 12-1 PM Monday, June 13, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Humane Society of Genesee County, in Chris’s memory.
Chris was born in Flint, MI on July 11, 1957, son of the late Ron and Rosemarie (Williams) Wellman. He was a graduate of Kearsley High School Class of 1975. Chris married Patricia Towne on July 20, 2002 in Flushing, MI. He retired from General Motors in 2008 after more than 25 years of service. Chris was a natural athlete and enjoyed playing in numerous hockey leagues, well into his 60’s-a fact that always left people in awe! Chris was also a member of the Flint Elks Lodge #222, where he loved playing golf with his buddies. Being around his family and friends, relaxing, grilling/cooking, and seeing everyone have a good time was one of his favorite pastimes. Chris was also the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle often referred to as the “biggest kid” of them all, as you could always find him getting the best giggles, smiles, and happy screams.
Chris is survived by his wife, Patricia Wellman; 3 daughters, Keri (Stephen) Leibfritz, Brooke (Ben) Pirmann and Chloe Wellman; beloved dog, Gordie Howe; 3 grandchildren, Kane Leibfritz, Lennon Leibfritz and Navi Pirmann; 3 siblings, Craig (Connie) Wellman, Julie Wellman and Todd Wellman; step-mother, Nancy Wellman; mother-in-law, Margaret Towne; 2 brothers-in-law, Dave Madden and Robert (Machelle) Towne; 2 sisters-in-law, Laura (Gary) Toth and Teresa Woolard; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Rosemarie Wellman; step-mother, Joyce Wellman; father-in-law, Jesse Towne; 2 sisters, Debbie Madden and Lora Simoni.
