McCollum, Janet E. Of Flushing, age 82, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her family, Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Ascension-Genesys. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Anthony Brooks will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and burial of cremated remains will be at Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Easter Seal Society, Autism Society, or the Marion D. Crouse School.
Janet was born in Flint, Michigan on May 2, 1938, the daughter of Leo and Margaret (DeLisle) Newbury. She married Robert C. McCollum on April 10, 1960, in Flint. Janet was an active member of St. Robert Catholic Church and was a member of the Council of Catholic Women. She had been employed by Security Federal Credit Union for 16 years, retiring in 1995. Janet also worked in the office at St. Robert for five years and Rossell Funeral Home for over 10 years. She enjoyed walking and even did the Crim 10 mile after her 70th birthday. Janet was active with her “Lunch Bunch” girlfriends and the Flushing Book Club. Her family was her greatest joy and she was an avid supporter of all of her grandchildren’s schools and never missed one of their events.
Janet is survived by her husband, Robert; four children, Michael and wife Tracey McCollum of Rochester, NY, Michelle and husband Thomas Faupel of Mason, MI, Matthew McCollum of Clio, MI, Melissa Vanitvelt of Grand Blanc, MI; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Hannah, Julia, Benjamin, Donovan, Cian, Brendan, Quinton; and several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Newbury. |
