James Edward Grant, 88, of Bowling Green passed away April 1, 2023 at Greenview Regional Hospital.
The Kewanee, Illinois native was born February 13, 1935 to the late James Phillip and Esther Anna (Phillips) Grant. He was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Patricia (Polfliet) Grant and later wife, Betty Lou (Mason) Grant; sons, Robert Eugene Grant and Wayne Allen Grant; grandson, Bryan Randall Grant; and several siblings. James was a devout Christian who attended Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Halifax, KY and Christian Faith Church in Montrose, MI. He was retired from General Motors after 44 years of service. He loved his family.
Survivors include his sons, James Lawrence Grant (Lee Ann) of Westmoreland, TN and Charles ‘Chuck’ Phillip Grant (Bonnie) of Bowling Green; daughter, Vicki Lynn Read (the late William) of Montrose, MI; 24 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nancy Haptonstall and Grace Hufnagel.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church (5362 Halifax Road, Scottsville, KY) with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time at the Church. A funeral service will also be held at noon Friday at the Montrose Family Worship Center (9453 Vienna Rd. Montrose. MI) on Friday, April 7, 2023. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until noon in Montrose. Burial will take place in Montrose Cemetery. J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels and O’Guinn Funeral Home have been entrusted with arrangements. |
