Cronin, Jean L., age 85, of Flushing, Michigan, died peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Rossell Funeral Home, 307 E. Main Street, Flushing, Michigan. Chaplain Hank Messing will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Flushing Library/GDL/Friends of the Flushing Area Library. You may use this form to specify your contribution be kept local to the Flushing Library that Jean loved most.
Jean was born on August 22, 1938, in Flint, Michigan. She was the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Remender) Hudson. Jean accomplished many things in her long life, but family brought her the most pride and joy. Not only did she raise 3 young daughters on her own, but she loved being Nana to her 3 granddaughters and her first great-granddaughter. Jean was a proud Elder of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She was an avid knitter, and her family will forever cherish the sweaters, socks, afghans, hats, scarves, and mittens she lovingly made each year. Jean loved watching football and was so proud when her Wolverines won! She served on the board of the Genesee District Library for several years and always loved a good book. Jean was also a long time member of the Flushing Book Club. She took great pride in being president of the club for many years and valued the friendships she made.
Surviving are her children, Kerry McFarlane of Traverse City, Linda Blakey of Flushing, Kristy Marton (Mike LaPorte) of Flushing; grandchildren, Emily Godbold (Scott), Jillian McFarlane, Jayne Hearld (Isaac); great-grandchild, Isla Jean Hearld; sister, Joan Flanagan of California; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her beloved 4-legged companion Lucy.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carol Garcia; Edward Marton, James Cronin, and Robert Brown.
