Beverley June Hicks, age 96, of Lansing, MI passed away of natural causes in the last moments of Christmas Day 2021. She is survived by her children, Bruce Maltby of Charlotte, MI; Darlene Fedewa of Eaton Rapids, MI; Louis (Gale) Phillips of Pawley’s Island, SC; Lynette (Thom) McCormick of Grand Blanc, MI and Robert Hicks of Grand Rapids, MI, grandchildren (Tawnie, Tammie, Tom, Jim, Candice, Jen, Robin, Nikki, Chad, Michael, Melanie and Lauren) many great grandchildren and cousins. She was preceded in death by her Mother (Pearl), Step-Father (Max), Father (Gerald), Brother James and Sisters Shirley (LaPaugh), Patricia (Woodman), Sandra (Woodman) and Karen (Woodman).
Beverley was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 17, 1925 and resided in Michigan her entire life. Her parents were 18 and 16, respectively, when Beverley was born, and she ultimately followed suit by leaving home at an early age herself, seeking happiness and independence. Beverley was a waitress by trade and worked at several high-end eateries, including Sayfee’s East Restaurant in Grand Rapids, whose patrons often called for her by name. Beverley was a religious woman and loved anything to do with Elvis Presley.
The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Living Joy Assisted Living in Flushing, Michigan for their service as well as The Care Team for excellent hospice care in the last months of Beverley’s life.
Particular thanks go out to Aisha Anderson, whose extra attention and care over the years is very much appreciated by the family.
Visitation and other funeral services will not be scheduled due to the COVID pandemic. Instead, the family will schedule a memorial event a later date. Beverley has been cremated and her ashes will be shared with the earth at a date and location to be determined.
