Ernest W. Walters, age 92, of Flint, passed away at home on Friday, September 29, 2023. Services will be private for family, they ask that you continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Online condolences can be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
Ernest was born on January 9, 1931. From a very young age Ernest learned how to work hard since most of this childhood was spent working on farms. He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer and served during the Korean War. Ernest was employed with General Motors and retired in 1983; he belonged to the Local 659. He spent most of this retirement giving back to the community. Ernest volunteered at many local hospitals, transportation for senior citizens, and he even knitted bonnets for infants in hospitals. Ernest had a difficult childhood and because of this he understood the impact one act of kindness could have. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his late wife, Billy. Billy preceded him in death this past August 2023.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Walters; daughter, Sandra (Matthew) Crawley; grandchildren, Justin Burgess, Derek Beemer and Sheldon Beemer; one great-grandson, Austin.
