Lydia Anna Berkey formerly of Davison, age 91 was ushered into the presence of Jesus Christ, Thursday March 19, 2015 at her home. A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday March 24, 2015 at Mt. Morris Community Church 7245 N. Center Rd. Genesee Township. Grandson John J. Vuckovich Jr. officiating. Burial in Rose Center Cemetery at 3:30 pm Tuesday. Family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Berkey will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of services. Those desiring may make contributions into Lydia’s memory to Foster Closet of Michigan, Genesee County Branch, or Carriage Town Ministries. Lydia was born in Flint Michigan on March 12, 1924 the daughter of the late Frank & Katherine (Kadelcek) Palka spending most of her life in the Davison area. She was joined in marriage to Rufus “Perry” Berkey on October 31, 1948 and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2002. Lydia had numerous hobbies and interest including crossword puzzles, bird watching and gardening. Her true enjoyment was reading and studying the Bible which she accomplished over twenty-five times in her life. She was a member of Mt. Morris Community Church, and had been employed by Auto Hardware Federal Credit Union until her retiring on May 31, 1986. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Marcia (John) Vuckovich and Brenda Alexander. Her loving granddaughter and caregiver Jennifer, grandchildren John J. Vuckovich Jr., Stephen A. Vuckovich, Breana M. Bishop, Dustin M. Alexander, Nathan A. Alexander, Sarah N. Alexander, Lacey M. Alexander. Her loving great grandchildren Celeste & Lacey Bishop, Nicholas, Audrianna, Alaina, Josiah, and Alivia Vuckovich, Riley & Noah Ross, and Brendan & Makayla Alexander.
