OSTRANDER, Richard P. – of Montrose, formerly of Flint, age 87, passed away with his wife, Annabell and daughter, Teresa by his side on August 23, 2014 at MediLodge of Montrose. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Chaplain Steve Hittle officiating. Burial, with Military Honors will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Tuesday and 12-1 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or Old Newsboys of Flint.
Richard was born in Heron Lake, MN on June 18, 1927, son of the late Frank and Oleta (Miller) Ostrander. Richard proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy before he was honorably discharged in July of 1946. He married the love of his life, Annabell Tucker on September 29, 1951 in Angola, IN. Richard was a member of the Old News Boys and worked for GM for 42 years before retiring in 1988. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, yard work, watching sports on TV, especially the Tigers, Lions and Michigan. He loved cookies and candy, but his greatest joy was traveling to their Florida home.
Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Annabell; daughters, Dorothy (Gary) Titmus and Teresa (Michael) Barkman; grandchildren, Jennifer Titmus, Matthew (Nicole) Titmus, Michael (Samantha) Kohn, Jr., Kaylyn Kohn and Charles Leach; great-grandchildren, Shawn Titmus, Michael Kohn III, Bentlee Leach and two great-grandchildren on the way; brother, Bill (Chloe) Ostrander; nephew, John (Marsala) Eads. He was preceded in death by son, Larry Ostrander; sister, Eileen White. The family would like to say a special thank you to Karen, Kaylyn, Ruth and Samantha for the great care and compassion shown in the last years in their home. Also the wonderful care at MediLodge of Montrose and Heartland Hospice.
