DUMOND, Larry D. – of New Lothrop, formerly of Ovid-Elsie, age 71, died peacefully at home on Friday, January 31, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Rev. Keith McKinnies officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1PM until 8PM, and on Wednesday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Larry was born on March 20, 1953, in St. Johns, Michigan, to the late Leroy and Donna (Taylor) Dumond. He graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the class of 1971. Larry married Sue Ann Broughton on March 17, 1979, in Burton, and they shared a beautiful life together until her passing on July 2, 2010. He found love again with Esther Witmer, and they were married on October 3, 2015, in Corunna. Together, they created many joyful memories over the years. Larry retired from General Motors in 2005 after dedicating more than 30 years to the company. Outside of work, he was passionate about traveling, camping, and spending time at the cabin on Crystal Lake, where he loved water skiing. He also loved dancing, riding his motorcycle, and tinkering with anything that needed fixing—there was nothing he couldn't do or repair. Above all, Larry was a devoted family man and cherished every moment spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Known for his warm smile, positive attitude, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone, Larry always saw the best in people, and had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcomed and valued. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are: Wife, Esther Dumond; Children: Brandye (Tom) Hunt, Larry (Kristy) Dumond Jr., and Nicole (Phil) Demeter; Step-children: Bobbie (Tracy) Shafer, Joe Bradley, Renee (Scott) Waite, and Gary (Shannon) Adams; Grandchildren: Keegan, Amaya, Lachlan, Genesis and Zane Hunt, Julia and Thad Dumond, Lucas and Allison Demeter; 6 step-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; Sister in law, Charis Dumond; Many other loving family members and dear friends.
