Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint, Father Anthony Strouse officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
Visitation 4 p.m. 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born Jan 10, 1926, the oldest daughter of Bryan H. Baker and Grace (Callahan) Baker. She was a lifelong resident of Flint and graduated from Flint Central High School in 1943. She attended St. Mary’s College and University of Michigan, graduating with a degree in English and a Masters Degree in Education. She taught Third Grade in the Flint School District for many years until she married John W. (Jack) Fisher in 1959. They were married for 55 years and had 4 children and 10 grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her family, travelling, gardening, and time at the cottage on Lake Fenton and Southampton, Ontario.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Jack; siblings Bryan H. Baker Jr and Martha B. Hopkins; and Brother-in-law Robert Fisher.
Surviving are her children: Mary Grace (Ken) Butts, John B. (Kim) Fisher, Martha F. (Curt) Lichty, and Jane E (Padraig) Hogan; Grandchildren: Grace (Gus) Olsen, John Butts, Dean (Cana) Butts, Bryan Butts, John R. and Joshua Fisher, Joseph, Daniel, and Graham Lichty, and Tom Hogan; and many nieces, nephew, and cousins.
