MCLAUGHLIN, Walter “Wally” - Of Flushing, age 88, died Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at his residence.
A private funeral service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Pastor Dan Bowman officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Contributions may be directed to the YMCA of Flint or Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester, MI
Visitation 11am-2pm Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Walter was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 7, 1932, the son of the late Walter and Alma (Kirchmeyer) McLaughlin. Walter served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper in 187th Infantry in 11th Airborne Division out of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He was a successful entrepreneur in the Flint area since 1969. Walter was an avid skier and a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America. He was a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, the YMCA of Flint and Crim 30 Year Runner Club.
Surviving are wife of 40 years, Margaret;
children, Susan McLaughlin, Thomas (Terri) McLaughlin and Sarah McLaughlin;
grandchildren, Ricki (Don) Burke and Tyler McLaughlin;
great-grandchildren, Emmett and Ember;
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 2 sisters.
