Clyde was born on May 18, 1949 in Flint, Michigan to the late Roland "Bud" and Ruth Coral (VanArsdale) Howd. He graduated from Genesee High School in 1967. Clyde married Kathleen Marie Hoyt on March 29, 1975 at Mt. Morris Community Church. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. Mr. Howd retired from AC in 2003 with 36 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local # 651. Clyde was the former Thetford Township Supervisor from 2008 until 2012. He was a member of Mt. Morris Community Church where he served as head usher. In his younger years, he was involved with Victorious Christian Youth, Campus Life and was also the youth ministry leader at Calvary Bible Church. Clyde loved kids and enjoyed volunteering with his son's class parties at McGrath Elementary. He was a volunteer firefighter with Genesee Township for several years. Like his father, Clyde took great pride with his yard work and was very meticulous, mowing his lawn at least 3 times a week.

Clyde was a people person who never knew a stranger and was a friend to all; he could travel anywhere and would always see a familiar face. Clyde would always dedicate his time and money to help anyone in need and was very generous with his missions work. He was currently working with his daughter to help start a local non-profit coffee shop ministry to help spread the word of God. Clyde was well known for being an avid power walker and faithfully powered through 11 miles on the same route every day. He enjoyed cooking, eating cookies and loved planning for upcoming trips. Clyde had a wonderful outgoing sense of humor and was quite the sarcastic jokester. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
