SCHMIDT, Dorothy F. (Hicks) – of Burton, MI, age 85, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held on a later date.
Dorothy was born in Cleveland, OH, on May 24, 1938, daughter of the late Josephine Jones. She retired from General Motors where her dedication and hard work at Buick City were a testament to her character. One of Dorothy's greatest passions in life was traveling. She had a keen sense of adventure and a particular fondness for casino visits, where she could try her luck and have fun. Among her many travels, Dorothy's frequent trips to Florida held a special place in her heart. She cherished the sunshine, warm weather, and the opportunities to relax and make lasting memories with her family. Dorothy's love for her grandchildren was immeasurable, and she relished the moments spent with them in Florida and on other occasions. Dorothy will be remembered for her warm and caring nature, her zest for life, and the love she had for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a deep sense of loss in the hearts of all who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by 3 children, James (Marie) Jackson, Charlene (Rich) Jackson and Rose (Gordy) Ivey; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Joanne (Jerry) Dosh; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Jones; brother, James Hicks; sister, Harriet Alexander; son, Tommy Jackson and beloved dog, Tila.
