Abramson, Carol Joy, of Flushing, died peacefully at home at the age of 74 after a 4-year battle with pulmonary hypertension. Carol will be cremated and there will be no services held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Carol Joy graduated from Kearsley High School in 1967 and earned her nursing degree from Mott Community College in 1975. Carol was also a licensed cosmetologist and practiced throughout her life. Carol married Nels in 1976, and settled in Flushing, Michigan. Carol dedicated herself to her family and loved watching her kids and grandkids grow up.
Dear Carol,
I married you on May 29, 1976, and we spent 46 years together. You taught me how to love and how to be strong, but fair. When you could no longer take care of me, you let me take care of you. I will be forever grateful for the life skills you gave me, how to cook to feed myself, how to clean, and how to appreciate your flowers. During your 4-year battle with pulmonary hypertension, it became increasingly difficult for you to breathe. Our journey through life together ended August 24, 2023, surrounded by the people who loved you so much. We watched and helped you pass into God’s arms. Your rest has been well-earned, sleep tight my friend. Someday we will be together again. For now and forever, I give you my life and my love.
Carol is survived by her husband, Nels; son, Cory (Crystal); daughters, Jamie (Phillip Patterson) and Amanda (Neil Thomas); grandkids, Madelynn and Sawyer (Patterson), Griffin, Greta, and Charlee (Abramson); brother, Jonathon (Linda) Sumner; and her dear friends, Mary and Kevin Cussans.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Polly and Jonathon Sumner; in-laws, Harriet and Gilbert Abramson; sister, Marilyn Hopkins; and sister-in-law, Marta Abramson.
“Grief never ends…but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith…it is the price of love.” – Donna VanLiere
“For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it, if only we’re brave enough to be it.” – Amanda Gorman
A special thank you to Renee at Compassus Hospice. |
