ROGERS, Margaret May (Flora) – of Mt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee Christian School or Carriage Town Ministries, in Margaret’s memory.

Margaret was born in Detroit, MI on February 26, 1929, daughter of the late Victor and Mary “Bett” (Harris) Flora. She graduated from Detroit Western High School in June 1946. Margaret told her family that she worked very hard beginning at age 14 in a laundry to help support her family. Later, Margaret worked in property management at the DIME building and then served as a secretary at the Chrysler Corporation in Detroit. Her commitment and work ethic were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing her. One of Margaret's cherished experiences was spending several summers in England with her family, where her mother, Mary Ann Flora, was from. On June 15, 1957, Margaret married Theodore “Ted” Rogers and moved from Lincoln Park to Rogersville.

Margaret's professional journey led her to the University of Michigan-Flint, where she worked in the Academic Dean's Office until her retirement in 1994. Her dedication to the institution was so profound that it was said the Campus Academic building was built "around her." To honor her legacy and contributions, the university established the “Margaret Rogers Award of Excellence”, which is awarded to faculty members who exemplify her dedication and commitment. Margaret was not only a devoted professional but also a faithful member of Mt. Morris Community Church for 66 years. Alongside her husband Ted, she attended, supported, and served the church. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and her actions reflected her deep commitment to her beliefs. Margaret's heart extended beyond her immediate community, as she supported numerous missionaries around the world, in addition to contributing to Genesee Christian School and Carriage Town Ministries.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the friends who visited Margaret during her time of need and to cousins, Mary and Sandra, for their unwavering support. A special thank you to our dear "Aunt" Pat, who made us feel so special.

Margaret is survived by her 3 children, Alison (Jeffrey) Bayley, Theodore (Tammy) Rogers and Kevin Rogers; 5 grandchildren, who were the treasures of her life, Brendon Bayley, Colin Bayley, Jared Bayley, Theo Rogers and Craig Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Mary “Bett” Flora; husband, Theodore “Ted” Rogers; 2 siblings, Mary Carter and John “Jack” Flora.
