JAARSMA-KILLIAN, Marie Ellen – of Flint, MI, age 65, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023.
Marie was born in Flint, MI on November 26, 1957, daughter of the late Raymond and Marcella (Potter) Jaarsma. A lifelong Michigan resident, she was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1975. In 1977 she began her career at Dale’s Natural Foods in downtown Flint. Marie married the love of her life, Brian Killian on November 5, 1983 in Flint, MI. Together, Marie, Brian, their daughter Katie, and their son Tim enjoyed many adventures and created beautiful memories.
Well known and loved at the Flint Farmers Market and other farmers markets across Michigan for Carothers’ Olive Oil, a business she purchased in 2010, Marie had a passion for high-quality olive oil and made friends everywhere she went as a business owner. Marie loved her family, nature, flowers and her garden, meeting new people, adopting her children’s many friends, art, her kitties, and her friends. Marie was very spiritual and shared her love and light with all those she met.
Marie is survived by her husband, Brian Killian; 2 children, Kathleen Killian and Timothy (Justin) Killian; 3 sisters, Laurie (Doug) Moore, Sherie Jaarsma, and Valerie Jaarsma; as well as many other loving family members and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marcella Jaarsma.
The family thanks you for your condolences, thoughts, prayers, and grace during this extremely difficult time. To know Marie was to love her and she brought her own special sunshine into many of your lives. A celebration of life, which is sure to be extremely overcrowded, is being planned for later this year in the spring or summer, both seasons Marie loved.
