Vohwinkle, Yvonne Roejean – Yvonne died peacefully at home with family by her side on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at the age of 83. Yvonne was born on July 21, 1936, the daughter of Harry and Thelma Tahash. Yvonne graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1954. In the summer of 1950, Yvonne met her best friend and soulmate, Terry C. Vohwinkle, when he found himself drawn in her direction on a rather fortuitous bike ride. They married on Oct. 8, 1954, and enjoyed 65 beautiful years together. Yvonne was active in her community through Kearsley Community Schools, and through many years of working Genesee Township elections. She was also a longtime member of Richfield Road United Brethren In Christ Church, where she served for many years as the church secretary and many other church functions. Yvonne enjoyed many crafts including crocheting blankets for her newborn grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Well-known as a fabulous cook and baker, she especially enjoyed creating holiday feasts for family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Terry and their family: son, Bill Vohwinkle; daughters, Terri and Les Loyer, and Sherri Mitchell; and son, Todd and Tina Vohwinkle. Grandchildren: Adrienne Soyring, Jacob Vohwinkle, Matthew Vohwinkle, Aimee Gilmore, Melissa Anderson, Jon Loyer, Bill Lovejoy, Sandra Patterson, Frank Mitchell, Tony Vohwinkle, Tammy Romero and Tiffany Vohwinkle. There are also 24 Great-Grandchildren. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Tahash; aunts, Ella Hampton, Barbara McCormick, Peggy Kirchner; an uncle; 2 brothers-in-law and 1 sister-in-law. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who met her.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 PM on November 23, 2019 at Richfield Road United Brethren in Christ, 6259 Richfield Road, Genesee Township, Pastor John Brainard officiating. Family will greet guests from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A special thank you to daughter, Sherri, granddaughter, Aimee and Ascension Hospice for their diligent and loving care of Yvonne. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ascension Hospice.
