Edward Richard Roose, age 97, of Hadley, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 19, 2026. He was born April 6, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, to George and Alexia Roose, immigrants from Belgium, Edward was a proud first-generation American. He and his siblings were raised in faith, hard work, respect, and love of country.
Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and the beloved patriarch of his family. He was a proud member of Plumbers Local 98 for 78 years. A gifted artist, Edward expressed his creativity through charcoal, watercolor, and sculpture, especially his beautiful alabaster figures. He was also an extraordinary craftsman who could fix nearly anything.
Above all, Edward loved God and his family. His beautiful singing of praise songs will be deeply missed. He is survived by his sister Virginia Sutter and brother John Roose as well as his children Gary Roose, Patti Lawson, John (Susan) Good, Vanessa Nelson, Melissa (Chris) Courtney, Rhennea (Paul) Buck, and Alicia Roose, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren who know him as Pippy, and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Pastor Dan Burger will officiate. Friends may visit prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Edward will be laid to rest at Christian Memorial Gardens in Rochester. |
