McARTHUR, Maxine Lois (Shafer) – of Burton, MI, age 92, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; D. Joey Graves officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 12-8 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2022 and 10 AM-12 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Maxine was born at home in Davison, MI on January 18, 1930, daughter of the late Harold E. and Clara (Washburn) Shafer. She married Harry E. McArthur on February 7, 1948 and he preceded her in death on January 23, 2003. Maxine enjoyed camping, hunting, dancing, playing Bingo and spending quality time with her family and friends. She was employed by Clara Barton Convalescence Center for 29 years and was a dedicated VFW Auxiliary member.
Maxine is survived by 4 children, Ken (Teri) McArthur, Diane McArthur, Vickie McArthur and Marlene (Rob) Fong; long-time family friend, who was thought of as a daughter, Linda Scharrer; 11 grandchildren, Kevin (Amy) McArthur, Sara McArthur, Kirk (Erin) McArthur, Katie McArthur, Tammie (Rob) Beggs, Chris Montney, Samantha (Mick) Petty, Melissa (Scott) Spencer, Richie (Shannon) McArthur, Tony (Pam) McArthur and Nick Burns; 26 great-grandchildren, Garrett, Ethan, Quaid, Ian, Lily, Aiden, Madeleine, Benjamin, Jessie, Joey, Landon, Keagon, Jordan, Aubrey, Miranda, Cayden, Justice, Dauson, Thomas, Matthew, Morgan, Logan, Haley, A.J., Isabella and Hayden; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Emma and Asher; 2 siblings, Larry (Linda) and Darlene; many, many beloved nieces and nephews as well as other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold E. and Clara Shafer; husband, Harry E. McArthur; 2 sons, Terry Lee McArthur and Richard McArthur; son-in-law, Alan Burns; daughter-in-law, Linda McArthur; 7 siblings, twin brother, Max, Shirley, Bob, Bruce, Bud, Frances and Sherman.
