She married the LOVE of her life, Frank “Sonny” Kotowicz Jr. in July 1955. Phyllis was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Church, where she taught religious education and loved volunteering for funeral dinners. She loved up north summer vacations, bowling, gardening, canning, making grape jelly and freezer strawberry/rhubarb jam; as well as playing Dirty board, greedy and many card games. She also enjoyed going to the casino and car shows. Phyllis worked at Dandelion Child Care and retired from Burton City Hall. However, she felt her greatest achievement in life was being a devoted wife and mother.

She loved her 13 grandchildren: Benjamin (Katie) Arden, Victor (Amanda) Arden, Ken (Kandra) Gellings, Andrew (Amanda) Gellings, Craig (Traci) Kotowicz, Christopher (Savannah) Kotowicz, Cassi Kotowicz and companion, Paul Simpson Jr., Cameron and Kelsey McKillop, Frank Kotowicz, Anthony (Jamie) Kotowicz, Chase and Cooper Ruppel, as well as her 14 great-grandchildren: Cole, Rhys and Jack Arden, Evan, Tyler, Cody, Brenna and Lucas Gellings, Jaxon and Emery Gellings, Casen and Teagan Kotowicz, Charlie and Collin Kotowicz;
