Debra Summers

Born: 6/12/1956
Died: 12/9/2025
Age: 69
Community: Burton, MI

Debra Maria (DelGreco) Summers, beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, in Burton, Michigan, surrounded by the love of her family.

Her 69 years were a testament to her generous heart, unwavering faith, and the joy she found in enriching the lives of others.

Born in Flint to Jan and the late Frank P. DelGreco, Debbie brought light and spirit into every room.

She often remarked on how "fabulous" life was and how truly "blessed" she felt, a perspective she held fast to, even in challenging times. Debbie retired from Electronic Data Systems (EDS) but never truly stopped sharing her gifts. She found genuine happiness working part-time at the Hallmark store in Davison and later at the JoAnn store, where her creativity flourished. An avid quilter and seamstress, Debbie’s hands were rarely still. She crafted beautiful pieces with care, gifting them freely to mark special moments.

Her Italian heritage was a source of great pride and pleasure. Family and friends delighted in her cooking, baking, and the limoncello she crafted with love.

Debbie embraced life fully, treasuring adventurous trips to Alaska with her husband, Ed, and expressing her vibrant energy through a deep love for dance. A pillar of compassion, Debbie was always the first to offer help. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a dedicated and active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton.

Her volunteerism was extensive, touching countless lives through programs like the Catholic Council of Women (CCW), the annual Giving Tree Program—which blessed hundreds of families each Christmas—and various fundraising initiatives for local schools. She co-chaired the Holy Redeemer Big Raffle and served as a dedicated catechism teacher.

Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved father, Frank P. DelGreco, in 2021.

Her beautiful spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of over 47 years, Ed Summers; their son, Alex Summers, and his wife, Jennie; her grandchildren, Isla Rose and Wyatt Andrew, who were the light of her life; and sister in law Linda Light. Debbie is also survived by her loving mother, Jan DelGreco; her brother, Frank DelGreco and his wife, Michele; her sister, Kathleen Vickory and her husband, Matt; and her sister, Christine DelGreco and partner John Kramb; along with many extended family members and friends who became family.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated medical teams at the Flint Cancer Center, Henry Ford Genesys Hospital, and the Hospice Medical Team for their exceptional care and kindness.
