ABBOTT, Gary J. Sr. - of Flint, age 68, passed away August 8, 2014 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday and 10 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Newsboys – Flint.
Gary was born in Omer, MI on March 9, 1946, son of the late Robert and Marjory (Morse) Abbott. He married Sandra C. Dawson on November 14, 1964. Gary proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Buick where he was a Journeyman Welder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was always tinkering with something.
Gary is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra; two sons, Gary Jr. (Carrie Sue), Randy; two grandchildren, Danny and Sarah; sister, Barbara (Daniel) Headrick; brother, Robert E. (Cheryl) Abbott; mother-in-law, Marion Dawson; brother-in-law, Robert Dawson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Julie Stockmeyer.
