Hathaway, Bruce, age 91 of Flushing, passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on January 16, 2023. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Flushing United Methodist Church located at 413 E. Main Street, Flushing, Michigan 48433 followed by Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at 2:30 pm. The family will receive guests at the church from 10:00 AM Friday, February 10 until the time of the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bruce to the Flushing United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Sylvia. Children, Jeffrey Hathaway of Tempe, AZ and Jane (Anthony) Mucha of New Lothrop. Grandchildren, Ashley Thams, Alyssa Pape, Lauren (Joseph) Wenzlick, Michael Mucha and Allyson Pape. Great-Grandchildren, Everly, Nora, Reid and Judd. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bruce was born on December 13, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Bruce Donald and Helen Lillian (Thompson) Hathaway. He graduated from Royal Oak High School before earning his Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University. He served our country with the United States Army, earning the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Medal, before working for, and retiring from, General Motors. Bruce was an active member of the Flushing United Methodist Church, an avid golfer and he cherished time spent with his family and friends.
