Norman was born March 8, 1924 in Flint, MI, the son of Charlie T. and Jennie Smith Prieur. Norman attended Flint Public Schools until he was 16 years old and then found employment with General Motors Corporation at the plant on Dort Hwy. Norman retired from the Old Chevy-In-The-Hold GM Plant on Chevrolet Ave in 1972 after 32 years of service. He was joined in marriage to the love of his life, Lillie Mae Blakemore, on January 28, 1949. They happily lived and loved together for 50 years until, after a long illness, Lillie preceded him in death October 23, 2010. Norman loved to bowl in his early years and was a member of a bowling team for many, many years. In later life, after the passing of his wife, he began to attend the Carmen-Ainsworth Senior Community Center, which was the highlight of his day; also where he met and enjoyed many new friends. There he looked forward to playing Euchre everyday and would often solicit others to join them in the game. Being at the community center contributed to his meeting so many dear friends who became an integral part of his daily life; under the directions of Mrs. Pamela Luna, who gave him special attention until her retirement. At that point, Mrs. Eileen Swain carried on until Norman's health failed and he could no longer attend. His bus driver, Mr. Clarence Yancy, also gave him very special attentive care, as many others there did. Mr. Norman Lee Prieur was the eldest of nine children. One sister, Mrs. Alderlean Peabody, survived him. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy L. Green, Mrs. Marna A. Fetrow, brothers Mr. Lawrence Pireur, Mr. Laverne N. Prieur, Mr. Ray T. Prieur, Mr. James G. Prieur and Mr. Charles T. Prieur Jr.; additionally, Norman is survived his step-daughter, Mrs. Bea Brochhausen and children of Texas, many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Special recognition is given to Mrs. Mattie M. Patrick, his house keeper, for her many years of loyal service, special friends Mr. Michael Burnett and Gwendolyn Burnett, neighbors Mr. Ray Collins and Mrs. Janice Collins, special attention and friendship of Mr. Nate Smith and John Smith. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff and support staff at Sugar Bush Living Care Facility and to the staff and associates of Harmony Care Hospice.
