Paul Thomas Harmon Sr. of Otisville, MI went to Heaven on August 7, 2022. His memorial service will be held at noon
Thursday August 18, at St. John Catholic Church in Davison. He was born to Sherman and Hazel Harmon in Port Huron,
MI on July 8, 1957.
Paul’s childhood was filled with rambunctious love. Throughout his early years he lived in Flint and Davison while
spending many summer days in Port Huron. Paul graduated from LakeVille High School in 1975, married his high school
sweetheart in 1976 began their lives and family in 1977 while settling into their Otisville home in 1978.
After high school, Paul began working with his father and later became co-owner and future owner of Fairway Discount
Stores where he worked for 45 years. He with the help of employees, family and friends supported communities across
12 locations including Corunna, St. John’s, Otisville, Mt.Morris, Durand, North Branch, Vassar, Millington, Montrose, Cass
City, Yale, and Byron. In 2012, Paul was an elected Otisville Village Council member. Paul served on the Otisville Village
DDA as a member/council representative for 26 years. He led co-ed community Volleyball at LakeVille Community
Schools for several years.
When he wasn’t working at his stores or traveling for business, he enjoyed cooking his family breakfast on Sundays, he
could make any type of egg to order, his specialties were sunny side up eggs and omelets, reading the “funnies”,
camping in northern Michigan and visiting Indialantic Beach, Florida. He welcomed everyone to his home to play a game
of sand volleyball. He could make you laugh until you cry, scare you with his ghost stories or his impression of a
velociraptor. He had a particular skill set in sarcasm, he was funny!
He will be deeply and truly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Elizabeth (Hillock) Harmon. They were best friends and
shared and loved everything together in love and spirit.
He loved his family with all his heart. Beloved children and grandchildren: Son, Paul Jr. of Alma, Son, Michael and wife
Bridgitte of Fairgrove (Sophia, Jack, Michael Craig), Daughter, Marie and Husband Jonathan Koyl of Coldwater (Henry,
Eliza, Jane), Daughter, Kimberly and Husband Derrick Banyas of Flushing (Christian, Lawson, Marian), Grand”daughter”
Aurora Harmon of Otisville (Great-Granddaughter, Rosalee). Also surviving are his former Daughter in-law Michelle
Woolworth, brothers Sherman Harmon, David (Jocelyn) Harmon, Sisters Vicki Wineland and Lauri Mathews, Brother-in-
law John Hillock II, Sister-in-law Pam Hillock, Brother-in-law Don Jarema and all his many nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his Mother Hazel (Smiley) Harmon, Father Sherman Harmon Sr, Infant brother Michael,
Father-in-law John Hillock, Mother-in-law Virginia (Zayac) Hillock, Brother-in-law David Hillock, Sister in-law Patricia
(Hillock) Jarema, Brother-in-law Don Mathews, and Sister-in-law Cheryl Harmon.
We will remember Paul as a wonderful man who was loved by many. Thank you to all the caregivers and for support at
Ascension Genesys and Campassus Hospice care. |
