Irma Garcia, our Queen Bee, passed away on September 4th, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 90. Irma was born to Ruperto Sr. Garcia and Nazaria Bazan on November 8th, 1934, in Benavides, TX. She lived a life full of heart and tenacity.
Irma married Norberto Garcia Sr. on January 19th, 1953, in Jim Wells County, TX. Irma and Norberto were happily married 34 years before his passing.
Irma retired from General Motors V8 Engine Plant, where she worked in the Restora Cafeteria.
She also enjoyed visiting the casino which led her to Vegas many times throughout the years. She always loved cheering for and attending Detroit Pistons and Tigers games.
Irma and her family loved spending their summers at the campground where they’d enjoy the beach, cornhole, and bonfires.
In her free time, Irma enjoyed crocheting gifts for her family like blankets, coats, and baby clothes.
Irma was known for being “Kick-The-Door-Down Grandma” which perfectly reflects her fiery personality and the intensity of her love for her family.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband Norberto Sr, her parents Ruperto Sr and Nazaria, her siblings Gloria, Linda, Yolanda, Elida, Ruperto Jr., and her children Norberto Jr. and Betolinda.
Irma is survived by her children Rene Garcia, Rosa Cleveland (David), Ricardo, Arnoldo, Roxanne Jones (Kevin), Joanne Leach (Raymond), her grandchildren, Tracey Carmack (Robert), Michael Frost, Allen Frost (Bianca), Jason Brousseau (Justin), Stephen Jones (April), Domyneque Bailey, Rayanne Suarez (Jose), Bella Leach, Jordin Leach and Dallas Ray Leach, 17 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren and her brothers Armando and Arthuro and her sister Dora.
In honor of Irma’s memory, a celebration of life will be held on September 11th, 2025, with an open viewing at 10am and service at 12pm at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Irma’s legacy will live on through her numerous family members and friends. Irma will be deeply missed, and her memory will be cherished forever.
