WILBUR, Michael Dennis - Age 72 of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, December 13, 2020. Private funeral services will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. A public visitation will take place 11-2 PM and 5-8 PM Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the funeral home with a Fire guard service taking place at 6 PM with live streaming available at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. Those desiring may make contributions to the National Kidney Foundation, Genesee County Humane Society or Gaines Township Fire Department.
Michael was born April 22, 1948 in Flint, the son of Donald and Audrey (Sheffer) Wilbur. After graduating from Southwestern, Mike went on to work for AT&T as a lineman/splicer until his retirement in 1999. He married Susan Kanera August 12, 1978 in Flint. Mike’s true passion was firefighting. He proudly served on Gaines Twp. Fire Department for 30 years, ending his career as Assistant Chief. He was surrounded by loved ones at home when he passed. Surviving are: wife, Susan; children, Jim Wilbur, Kim Casper, Mike Wilbur (Aaron) and Libby Wilbur (Sean); grandchildren, Ashley Duckett (Brandon) and Lissa Hanchett; three great grandchildren; brother-in-law John Kanera (Kathy); brother-in-law Rick (Mary); special cousin, Kathryn Clark; Nephews Chase Kanera, Chad (Nikki) Kanera; niece Becky Bellamo (Joe). The family would like to give special recognition to extended family Laynett, his best friend, and Brendt Cole.
