WARD, EVELYN – of Flint, MI, age 79, was called home by her Savior on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at her residence with her loving family by her side. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Friday, August 21, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Alan Duce officiating. Interment will take place following the service at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Senior Citizens Center.
Evelyn was born in Flint, MI on July 15, 1947, the daughter of the late Walter and Hilda (Phetteplace) Redfield. She married Donald Leroy Ward on February 5, 1989, and together they shared many cherished years before his passing. Evelyn was previously an active and devoted member of Flint First Wesleyan Church, where she faithfully participated in the choir and enjoyed helping with children’s instruction. More recently she attended Richfield Church of the Nazarene. She also treasured the time she spent at the Eastside Senior Citizens Center, where she eagerly volunteered with food drives and enjoyed friendly games of BINGO and euchre. She was also a proud member of the Pineview Neighborhood Watch, reflecting her caring nature and commitment to her community. Above all, Evelyn’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who remained an active and loving presence in the everyday lives of those she cherished. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, share in their special occasions, or simply spend time together. Her kindness, faith, generosity, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Evelyn leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and countless treasured memories that will be cherished forever.
Evelyn is survived by her loving three sons, Mark (Ciara Martinez) Smith, Bruce (Jenni) Smith, Brian (Linda) Smith; step-sons, Jeff Ward and Jimmy Ward; grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Ashley (Raymond) Bergquist, Abbi (Sean) McGeary, Isabelle (Zach) Ullom, Michael Smith, Brandon Smith, Blake Smith, Achilles Smith, Robert Smith; great-grandchildren, Aleah Bergquist, Brayden Bergquist, Emma Smith, Ella Gonzales; two sisters, Ann Genia and Janet Sinclair; nieces and nephews, Steven Sinclair and Andrea (Chris) Wilson-Saine.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by two step-daughters, April Ward and Wendy Ward; step-daughter-in-law, Debbie Ward.
