Stedman, Shirley Ann of Flushing, age 95, died Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Swank Home in Swartz Creek. Cremation has taken place.
Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on April 18, 1928, the daughter of Emil and Lucille (LaVelle). She married Lawrence Stedman in 1969. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2008. Shirley worked for AC Spark Plug for many years, retiring in 1988. She was a singer with the big bands, including Bram Ward and the Frankie Jerome Bands in Flint during the 50’s and 60’s. She was an active member of the Flushing Senior Center and was also employed there for some time. Shirley loved being in the Flushing Follies. She was crowned Ms. Senior Michigan in 1998 and went on to become the 4th runner up for Ms. Senior America.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Sandra and husband Arthur Strand, Lynda Scribner; grandchildren, Johanna and husband Christopher Green, Shawn and wife Jessica Stand, Bryan Scribner, Ken Scribner; great-grandchildren, Erica, Alex, Conor, Violet, Gideon, Fielding, Liberty; and several nieces and nephews. |
