SLATER, Gerald Guy – of Davison, MI, age 81, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Davison Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice, in Gerald’s memory.
Gerald was born in Lapeer, MI on July 4, 1940, son of the late Floyd and Betty (Harris) Slater. He married Diane Simmonds on March 18, 1972. Gerald retired from General Motors SPO in Pontiac, MI as a firefighter after 30 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, making birdhouses, mowing his lawn on his Z-turn mower, fixing and racing cars, small engine repair, camping, riding in his 2003 Silverado Duramax, spending time with coffee shop buddies, family and grandchildren.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Diane Slater; 3 children, Emily (Michael) Shivlie, Lindsay Slater and Lynae Slater; 4 grandchildren, McKenzie (Clark) Menard, Santein Shivlie, Royce Shivlie and Payton Shivlie; 4 siblings, Karen (Kenny) Eden, Barbara (Charles) Frye, Sandra Candela and Sharyl (Craig) Congdon; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Betty Slater; brother, Buddy Slater; 2 sisters, Sharon Slater and Linda Davies.
