Tamara “Tami” J. Hopkins

(Formerly known as Tami Fous) age 73, died Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Her funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday August 9, 2025, at the Richfield Church of the Nazarene 7524 E. Mt. Morris Rd Otisville MI 48463, burial will follow in Smith Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Friday August 8, 2025 from 5-8 PM at the Mumford-Hudson Funeral Home Otisville.

Tami was born in Flint, Michigan on October 28, 1951, to Shirley Jones and William Everett. She married the love of her life Vernon Hopkins on July 9, 2001. They had the joy of spending the autumn of their lives together for 17 years in the home they built in Otisville.

She retired as a toolmaker from AC Delphi in 2006. Upon retirement, she immediately pursued a career in child advocacy. She became a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and worked with the Weiss Advocacy center until her second retirement in 2015.Tami had a passion for people, specifically children, and animals. She treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Grammy Tami”, she did what she could to be part of all the special moments. She was incredibly generous and was always willing to step in when others had a need. She was known for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She had a way of brightening any room she walked in and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She had a deep love for her friends, who were always more like an extension of her family. Tami loved the Lord, and cherished the deep faith she had. She was a proud member of Richfield Church of the Nazarene where she served in the children’s ministry for many years.

Tami is survived by her three daughters, Tessa (David) Trembley of Cadillac, MI; Charlene (James) Crowl of Mt. Morris; Angela (Mike) Taylor of Flint; 6 grandchildren, Savannah, Samuel, Bryce, Parker, Shelby and Holley; sister in-laws Lila Miller and Eileen Wilson, brothers-in-law, Burton (Joyce) Hopkins, Ray (Marci) Hopkins, Wayne (Gail) Hopkins. Her fur babies, Tate, Bell and Zara and many dearly loved friends and family.

Tami is proceeded in death by her husband, Vern Hopkins and her siblings Karen Cochran and Brad Frank.
