NELSON, Donna Jean - age 92 of Swartz Creek, passed away, September 1, 2023. Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 11 AM with visitation preceding at 10 AM at The Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Pastor Dan Bowman officiating. Interment will take place Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2 PM at Crestwood Cemetery in Grand Blanc. A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 2-8 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Those desiring make memorial contributions to Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, 7400 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Donna was born November 12, 1930, in Flint, the daughter of W. Howard and Beatrice Ellen (Keyser) Nichols. She was a 1949 graduate of Flint Central High School and attended one year at Baker Business College. Donna married Gerald C. Nelson on June 21, 1952, in Flint. Donna was strong in her Christian faith sharing God’s love to all she met. Growing up in a large family she always believed that family connections were very important. She has been a member of the church choir for many years, an active Bible study participant and involved in many outreach ministries including making pasties for over 15 years. Her hobbies included counted cross-stitch, quilting, puzzles, and sewing. For all of her married life she has enjoyed sharing the Nelson Family cottage and special friends in the Botsford Landing community. She was a member of Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. Surviving are: husband of 71 years, Gerald Nelson; Five sons, Douglas Nelson of Lansing, Michael (Wendi) Nelson of Florida, Ronald (Ruth) Nelson of Alanson, MI, Steven (Valorie) Nelson of Flushing and Phillip (Kristine) Nelson of Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; cousin, Gary Keyser, Sister-in-law, Janet Nichols and brother-in-law, Bill McGee. Donna was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Ralph and Delbert Nichols; two sisters, Arlene and Helen; daughter-in-law, Ellen Nelson. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com |
