Brian Barnard, of Lapeer, died on March 16, 2024. He was born in Detroit on February 20, 1956, to Ronald and Marguerite Barnard. Brian grew up in Hadley and on First Street in Lapeer, where he had many childhood friends. Brian graduated from Lapeer West High School, while also working as a painter. He later moved to Houston, Texas, with his brother Gary and trained as a Metallurgist and Stress-relief technician. Brian worked all over the United States and on oil platforms. He later changed careers and attended San Jacinto College in Houston, Texas where he obtained his nursing degree. He enjoyed working in hospitals and became a specialized dialysis nurse. Brian eventually returned to Flint, Michigan, worked in nursing homes, and in his later years did private duty nursing.
Brian was married and divorced several times. He eventually found and married Sandy Kelsey, the love of his life. He leaves to mourn him, his children Richard Barnard of South Bend, IN, Renee Barnard, and Benjamin Barnard of Davison, MI; his mother Marguerite of Millington, MI; brothers Gary (Ginger) Barnard of Houston, TX, Kenneth (Pam) of Prescott, MI, Mike (Jayne) of Millington, MI; along with numerous; cousins, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra “Sandy” Barnard; father Ronald Barnard; and brother Matthew Barnard.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A memorial service will occur at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2237 East Reid Road Grand Blanc, MI 48439, on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Stiles Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
